Oval Picture
Mounts
All oval mounts are supplied with square cut outsides, not cheap bevel outer edges. The oval windows (apertures) are 45 degree bevel cut. The colour of the mount bevel depends on your chosen board type, bevel colours are cream, pure white, or black. see picture mount specifications for more info about the types of mount board
We can also supply oval outsides, also 90 degree cut, to fit oval frames, or circles for circular frames - just ask!
As with all our picture/photo mounts these are available in regular or conservation mountboard, extra thick, or black core.

Oval mounts are a more traditional design, frequently seen on Victorian or Edwardian period pictures. Particularly in vogue for family portraits or individual studio photos. They were a specialised skill which showed off the picture framers' talent.
Now, of course, with our computerized mount cutter (CMC machine) ovals, or any other shape, are available to you. We have an extensive library of mount designs, not just square or oval!
Why use an Oval Mount?
Multi aperture oval mounts can make a very nice presentation, and pleasing to the eye. They can create a "softer" less large frame for a treasured photograph or picture, and they can be very useful in framing needlework or fabric art.
For example you might want to frame two separate photographs in one frame you can order a photo mount with two oval windows. You can have these different sizes, if required, or a title window which you can place printed text behind.
Picture Mounts tip!
Oval photo mounts are a particularly effective option for older black and white or sepia family photos. In traditional colours (period colours) such as bottle green, nightshade blue, sepia or seal brown these can be very eye catching and still subtle and "in period". It is also a very efficient way of covering dog-eared or torn corners on treasured family photographs!
Then when you put them into your frame, you might think about adding a stand-up back to the frame!
